Highlights from October/Fall 2024
The October/Fall 2024 survey contains results from the four continuously measured markets and 17 markets with Fall only measurement.
The combined data shows a slight decrease in radio tuning among persons 12+. During the Fall 2024 measurement periods, an average of 17.7 hours per week was spent listening to radio, down 1.7% from Fall 2023. Average Weekly Cume however, increased 2.3% to almost 2.1 million listeners during Fall 2024.
Fall Only Markets
- Among the 17 markets measured annually each fall, time spent listening was flat from last year at 17.9 hours a week. Average Weekly Cume meanwhile was up 2.2%, reaching almost 1.65 million persons 12+.
- Cume and radio tuning continues to increase among both the key adult 18-49 and 25-54 demos. Time spent listening by these age groups increased by 1.7% and 1.2% respectively, compared to a year ago, and up 4.1% and 2.9% respectively when compared to Fall 2022.
- Radio listening remains strong with both men and women. TSL by male listeners 25-54 increased 1.6% from last fall and 4.9% from two years ago. Average weekly cume was up 3.4% and 6.1% respectively.
- The most listened to format during the Fall 2024 survey period were pop stations (AC, Hot AC and CHR), with over 9.4 million hours spent listening weekly. This was followed by Country with 5 million hours tuned weekly.
Continuous Measurement Markets
- Among the four markets that are continuously measured throughout the year, time spent listening by adults 25-54 was fairly flat with 18.5 hours spent with radio weekly, compared to 18.6 hours in Spring 2024. TSL among adults 18-49 was 18.4 hours weekly, down 2.3% from Spring.
